Western Australian 2021 Kick Off & Networking

And we’re back! To say it was an absolute pleasure welcoming the marketers of WA to our first in-person event in over a year would be an understatement. While the online AMI events of the past year have been incredibly valuable, it was nice to get to see so many faces in person. There was a great mix of long-time AMI members, new recruits, and those looking to join in attendance, and it was wonderful to see the excitement in the room as we all move forward into 2021.

The value added to the event from our experienced panel was significant. The WA AMI Committee would like to thank Clare McAlaney, Gemma Kelly, and Danika Briggs for their generosity in sharing their time, and valuable insight into the West Australian marketing industry.

The panel, hosted by WA AMI Committee Chair Kimberley Lim, covered vast topics ranging from company expectations, the role of mentoring in both career and self-development, skills shortages facing WA, and the value of investing in professional development for life.

The biggest take away from the evening was the importance within our industry of upskilling. Whether this is done through formal training institutions such as universities and TAFEs, or on a smaller scale through webinars, conferences, mentoring or networking, all panellists agreed on the vital importance of continued professional development. To quote panellist Danika Brigs “If it is important to you, it should be reflected in your bank statement. You will see a daily coffee, but what about a monthly course?”, What an interesting way to consider professional development.

If you missed out on this event, fret not, as there will be many more in-person events throughout 2021 which are sure to be just as insightful. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
