The Visa Marketing Team in Australia and New Zealand launched the Visa Leadership Series last week featuring one of the world’s most influential thinkers, authors and speakers, Malcolm Gladwell. Three events were run exclusively for an intimate group of Visa clients and guests in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. “This is the first in a series of quarterly thought leadership events, whereby Visa will be providing inspiration for our key contacts, which will ultimately help businesses and individuals thrive” said Terri Cumiskey, Director of Marketing at Visa.
Gladwell, who has been named one of the 100 most influential people by TIME magazine, provided fascinating commentary on a number of themes, including one that resonated with Visa – consumer trust and digital disruption. Gladwell provided his view on how the age-old notion of trust has been shaken up in the context of consumer-brand relationships, thanks to a new world of major disruption. “Trust becomes salient only under catastrophic or extreme conditions” Gladwell told the audience. It was a particularly relevant theme for Visa, who has this month launched the Future of Security Roadmap in Australia. Advancements in technology has enabled truly seamless commerce, but that in itself brings unique risks, which was a thought-provoking matter for Visa’s guests to consider.
