Queensland: CPM Member Update

The time for struggling to communicate a marketing practitioners worth should be left to a bygone era – a practitioner needs to command every bit the reputability as the CFO or the in-house lawyers do.

Why do business leaders pay or appoint either of those practitioners, often without second guessing? Because those practitioners are members of their industry professional standard and willing to be held accountable.

If you want to be considered a credentialed marketing practitioner – known for being a measurable and accountable conduit between ‘science and creativity’ – you need to be a Certified Practising Marketer (CPM), our industry professional standard.

On behalf of our CEO Ms Lee Tonitto, I would like to congratulate the following Queensland practitioners on recently being appointed CPM’s:

As Queensland State Chair, I am committed to being accessible and, despite this role being voluntary try to make extra time, to meet with many of our Queensland members and corporates, particularly when noteworthy situations arise. This last month I am proud to say has been no exception.

Recently I was fortunate to catch up with Dr Liz Ferrier (CPM) and Max Russell (CPM), please click on their names, to read more about them.  And, I look forward to meeting with many more of our other newly appointed CPMs over the coming month.

Are you already an AMI member and CPM?

If so, there are three (3) critical points that you should consider raising with non-practitioners, should they not appreciate your point of difference and what it is you bring to the table, versus some other marketer in name only.

Ask them, has the other practitioners you are considering:

  1. Had their knowledge and competency verified by the peak professional body for marketers in Australia?
  2. Proven that they are actually participating in ongoing maintenance of CPD points, to ensure their knowledge remains cutting edge and current in keeping with industry best practice?
  3. Have professional indemnity insurance in place to cover for the important work that they would be doing, should serious issues arise?

If they answered ‘no’ or ‘not sure’ to any of those, politely make the point that Marketing shouldn’t be treated as a ‘game of chance’ by those other ‘marketers’.  You understand the importance of marketing as a game changer – making or breaking their business.

Are you not yet a CPM, but already an AMI member?

For this month only, the AMI have a very special offer where they are waiving the $100 CPM application fee, for any practitioner wishing to apply for their CPM (click here for more information).

So no excuses, with a waived application fee, there is no better time to be recognised as a leading practitioner in our profession!

The AMI Queensland State Committee look forward to congratulating many more new CPM’s and, like I said at last year’s AMI Queensland State Awards, hopefully we will see someone from our great state of Queensland take out the National Award for Certified Practising Marketer of the Year!
