Richard is the Principal & Managing Director of Protean Consulting, based in Melbourne, a strategic advisory & consultancy for tech partners in the media industry.
Protean Consulting is focused on providing guidance to early/ growth stage technology companies where they intersect or target the media, marketing & advertising industry. More specifically, where the company’s purpose is international expansion through market entry and/ or to seek rapid revenue growth, operational effectiveness & strategy efficacy.
Prior to his role at Protean Consulting Richard has lived/ worked in London, Dubai, Melbourne, Singapore, New York, Sydney & Melbourne accumulating over 17 years of marketing related experience working for ad-tech and media companies.
Richard has a Masters of Business Administration from University of Manchester, and an undergraduate degree in Sociology from University of Plymouth (both UK). His thesis for the Global MBA completed recently was “The 4th Industrial Revolution – Why the proliferation of Data and application of Machine Learning & Automation threatens to disrupt and disintermediate the Agency model for Advertisers.” The primary research was conducted from key influencers in the global industry and these trends, and others, are regularly being discussed in the industry, across both trade publications and conferences, receiving consensus and conflict in equal measure.
During his career Richard has accumulated extensive first-hand knowledge of the media/ technology landscape and as a result is well networked within the global industry.
He’s currently supporting the Australian Marketing Institute as ‘Advisor to the CEO’ around opportunities for revenue growth so it can continue to fulfill it’s purpose to advance the marketing profession and support it’s membership.
