CMO Momentum: Leading and sustaining the modern marketing function

CMO, the publication for modern marketing leaders and owner of the CMO50, is delighted to confirm that the CMO Momentum event returns to Sydney on 8 August and expands to Melbourne on 19 September!

Today’s CMOs are pivotal in fostering a company-wide culture addressing changing consumer and market demands. It’s a task requiring agile decision making, innovative thinking, data-driven accountability and diversity. To continue to shape their futures, marketing leaders therefore need to possess broad leadership traits, from strategic and commercial nous to adaptability, creativity, an ability to partner internally and externally, and build talent.

CMO Momentum gives marketing and customer leaders the opportunity to gain and share insight on what it takes to lead and sustain the modern marketing function. Now in its third year, this full-day Sydney event, on 8 August, and our inaugural half-day in Melbourne, deep dive into stories of inspired customer-led leadership with international and Australian marketing speakers, innovative thinkers and more.

The program is built around six core competencies of marketing leadership, devised after extensive consultation: Strategic performance, commercial acumen, adaptability, innovative thinking, people and capability and collaboration.

In Sydney, the fabulous keynote is T2 global CEO, Nicole Sparshott, who will share her journey from CMO to CEO and lessons in brand leadership. She’s followed by GM Holden’s executive director of marketing, Kristian Aquilina, who will detail his marketing strategy to restore the Australian iconic brand’s market position, along with NRL chief commercial officer, Andrew Abdo, who’ll talk about tackling crises.

A number of leadership speakers are also joining us including mindfulness expert, Gillian Coutts, and Sue Langley, strengths profile practitioner and master trainer in positive leadership strategies. Plus a panel of former CMOs who’ve risen to CEO and board director level will reveal how marketers better take charge in the boardroom.

What’s more, a stellar line-up of marketers from SBS, Thankyou, Patagonia and Siteminder will debate brand purpose; while futurologist and Youthquake 4.0 author, Rocky Scopelliti, will share how to win over the next generation in the 4th industrial age.

On top of all this, CMO’s unique executive networking tables are back in 2019, giving our marketing leadership attendees the opportunity to interact with peers on the subjects that matter most – from ensuring marketing teams cope in the experience economy, to improving personalisation, CX and more.
