Australian Marketing Institute: Fuelling the careers of professional marketers

Our 2016 member insight survey clearly indicated that members wanted the AMI to focus on assisting members to progress their careers through professional development and accreditation.

During 2016, the AMI put a great deal of focus into responding to member’s feedback and developing a range of initiatives to support members through the various stages of their career development.

At the end of last year we once again surveyed our members to see how we were doing. The great news is that the initiatives that were put in place, or had commenced, were resonating and gaining traction with our members.

The 2016 survey looked at what members saw as the key professional development objectives, primary topics of interest and how they would prefer to have theses PD services delivered.

 The headline findings are:

  • Professional Objectives:
  • Seek a new position outside the current organisation;
  • Attain promotion in terms of title and areas of responsibility
  • Reach out to customers to advance market insights

Key Topics of Interest:

  • Digital Marketing Strategy Development
  • Digital Marketing
  • Content Marketing
  • Data Analytics

Preferred form of Delivery:

  • F2F workshops are preferred for strategic and or high level topics
  • Online is more appropriate for digital marketing and B2B

In response to these findings, the AMI has launched a new professional development programme which can be found on our professional development hub.

This includes a range of training from short and longer term courses with the flexibility of being on-line or in a class room setting.

The AMI Board and Management are committed to our purpose of fuelling the careers of professional marketers – our members.

Andrew Thornton, Chair of the Australian Marketing Institute
