Chairperson Report: December 2019

Welcome to the December edition of the Australian Marketing Institute Chair Report. The last couple of months have been huge for the Institute. Since my last report in August the team have been busy creating value for members, building the status of the marketing profession and providing opportunities for members to gain professional recognition.

Here’s a update of what we’ve been doing at AMI:

Celebrating marketing excellence through our Awards program

The 2019 AMI Awards for Marketing Excellence program has been the most successful in the 36-year history of the Awards. The team are already well into planning for next year’s program, so if you want to be the first to know when you can participate as an entrant, judge or sponsor in the 2020 AMI Awards program, submit your EOI.

AMI’s Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) Directory

Earlier this year, the AMI established the AMI CPM Directory. Now, with over 300 listings we are ready to present Certified Practising Marketers and their skills to the broader professional community. As well as providing a trust mark of marketing professionalism and standards, the CPM Directory helps CPMs in their career advancement, improving earning potential, knowledge sharing with industry peers and building professional brand and credibility.

Professional development, knowledge, content and thought leadership

We’ve continued to share more member stories and thought leadership from the incredible marketers in the AMI Marketing Community. You might have seen some of this thought leadership from our members circulated on social media and through our e-newsletters. If you have news to tell, don’t forget to tag @Australian Marketing Institute.

Get in touch with the Membership Team at membership@ami.org.au if you would like to submit content or share your achievements with the community.

Developing Australia’s future marketing talent

The 2019 Emerging Marketers Mentoring Program has come to a close across NSW, VIC, SA & WA for what has been our biggest program yet! This year there were 71 Mentors and 73 Mentees who took part in the program.

To support students build connections and foster professional relationships to get them closer to their goals, the Australian Marketing Institute is granting Student Membership to students of Educational Corporate Members, and Accredited or Endorsed tertiary programs.

There have been big changes at AMI with the introduction of an Affiliate Membership type for non-marketers and our Corporate Membership packages have been completely re-imagined. With more benefits, more value and new services, we’re now able to extend our offer to a wider audience.

Fostering member collaboration and networking

During the last quarter, in addition the Marketing Excellence Gala, AMI has provided the community with 13 networking events across states, attended by 298 professionals. These have included events for emerging marketers, senior marketers, AMI Awards participants and the general marketing community.

Our professional development program has seen record results with 322 marketers attending a total of 23 events which include webinars, workshops and customised training.

Trends and direction for B2B marketing

Together with Green Hat, the Australian Marketing Institute formed a B2B CMO Advisory Council to provide direction for the development of the Green Hat / AMI B2B Marketing Research Report. The council provides direction and strategic advice from a stellar range of senior leaders across diverse B2B verticals, supporting an industry initiative which researched the latest usage, trends and direction for B2B marketing in Australia.

Our Institute has been hard at work supporting our members fuel progress in their careers. If you’re not yet a member, help advance the marketing profession so that we can further support you, no matter where you are in your career journey! To become a member, visit AMI’s Member Hub.

Finally, wishing all our members and those in our community, all the best for a happy and safe festive season.

Best regards

Lynda
