Australian Marketing Institute Wins Gold at the Australian Event Awards 2020

The Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) has taken home the Best Event Training and Education award at this week’s Australian Event Awards: the premier awards program that recognises great events and achievements, not only in their field or sector but across the entire Australian industry. Judges congratulated all involved for leading the charge globally in industry-specific education with a very impressive product.

AMI was awarded the accolade in recognition of a bespoke Virtual Event Best Practice training program created hand in hand with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Republic Indonesia (MOTCE) to support the Indonesian events industry in strengthening its ability to deliver digital events during COVID-19.

Following a creative concept and challenge put forward by the Indonesian Minister of Tourism to some of Australia’s best and brightest agencies, AMI was awarded the competitive bid to roll out what became an online, on-demand course to 120 participants from across Indonesia over a two-week period.

Launched in May 2020, the innovative course was delivered via a bespoke learning management platform that included comprehensive videos, content library, live sessions, chat rooms and mentoring sessions. The platform’s content was put together by Australian event industry experts and helped the participants understand how to pivot their sessions to virtual platforms in the most effective way possible.

The course also enabled each participant to submit a virtual event marketing plan assessment, of which the top 12 were pitched to the MOTCE and an Australian panel of event industry experts. The top six entries were awarded funding and will execute their events before 30 September 2020.

AMI Chair Lynda Cavalera said: “I’m delighted to speak on behalf off each and every person who worked tirelessly to bring the Program to life when I say were are truly honoured with this incredible outcome, and we believe it continues to highlight that Australia is leading the way in the events space across the region.

This award win is also testament to the brilliance of the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy for its ongoing innovative thinking, and we are looking forward to continuing to deliver on our shared vision of creating the most inspirational and rewarding training programs out there.”

Rizki Handayani, Deputy for Tourism Products and Events, at Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Republic of Indonesia, commented: “The collaboration with AMI was a great opportunity to learn from experts in the international virtual event industry and we are so proud of the industry recognition that comes with the Australian Events Awards win.”

The 100+ events professionals who participated in the program learned that virtual event management is possible, is a great option and can be an innovative solution during and after the COVID-19 outbreak.”

The training created was developed in line with AMI’s vision to help members keep up with the rapid pace of change in the world and demonstrate the influence marketing and events can have in elevating brands and organisations.

Cavalera continues: “The win, with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries, Indonesia, was an incredible feat for us, particularly given the call-out was sent to providers globally. The Australian marketing and events industry rose to the occasion commendably and our professional development team put together the course, that was truly the first of its kind in the world.”

Following the overwhelming success of the initial course, AMI has adapted the program specifically for the Australian market, and will be delivered as ‘Virtual & Hybrid Events: Limitless Possibilities’. More than 150 event and marketing professionals are currently enjoying the 8-week online course and the new intake, starting on Tuesday, 24th November, open for registrations now.
