Winner Spotlight: Michael Laps

Michael is the Co-Founder and Strategy Director at Yoghurt Digital, a digital marketing agency specialising in user behaviour research, customer data analysis and all things search. His role encompasses designing, developing and implementing digital strategies for the agency’s clients, as well as generating new business. With a background in client services at both traditional advertising and digital agencies, Michael has been privileged to work on the digital campaigns for household names like ANZ Bank, QBE Insurance, H&R Block, Converse, Seafolly and Forever New. Michael is also a guest-lecturer at the University of NSW and was recently named the winner of the Australian Marketing Institute’s “Future Marketing Leader” award.

How was winning the Future Leader of the Year in 2017 beneficial for my career?

Being recognised by Australia’s peak body for marketing is an enormous privilege and one of the proudest moments of my professional career. As an agency owner you frequently wonder if the decisions you’ve made and the course you’re setting for the agency are in alignment with the industry’s direction.
The process of entering the AMI awards and speaking with the judges helped me validate my thought processes, while also pitting them against some of the brightest minds in our industry. It gave me confidence not just in my own abilities, but also the strategic direction of our agency and our ability to be a key player not just now but for years to come.
